Overview
A true definition of an African safari, Northern Tanzania gives you the opportunity to see the Big 5,
explore the Serengeti, enter the Ngorongoro crater, interact with elephants in Tarangire, and learn about
human evolution in Olduvai Gorge. This program satisfies the thirst of customers who wish to go on
authentic African safaris.
Itinerary
You will have an early breakfast at the lodge in Arusha then drive across Maasai steppe to Tarangire
National Park. This Park, with 2850 square kilometers, is known for its large herds of elephants, baobab
trees and good scenery. A part from the rhinoceros, all other members of the “Big Five” can be spotted in
Tarangire. Overnight will be at a lodge near in Ngorongoro Highlands.
After an early breakfast, you will traverse Ngorongoro Conservation Area and go to Serengeti. Along the
way, you will have a little deviation and visit Olduvai Gorge, www.olduvai-gorge.org, to study the
history of evolution of humans. Afternoon tour in Serengeti national park. Overnight at a lodge in the
middle of Serengeti national park.
Spend the entire day exploring Africa’s finest national park; it has been voted as the best national park in
Africa several times. This Park is an absolute venue for viewing animals inhabiting African savannah;
Serengeti Annual Wildebeests migration and members of the “Big Five” are easily seen in this extensive
protected area. Overnight at a lodge in the middle of Serengeti national park.
Morning tour in Serengeti. At around midday, you have your picnic lunch in the Serengeti then check out
of the park and drive to a reserved lodge on the rim of the crater. Along the way, a visit to a Maasai
village in Ngorongoro may be offered upon the client’s request. Today’s lodge is selected to offer good
views of the crater from atop.
Descend into the crater very early in the morning; this maximizes the chance of spotting animals as they
are more active in the morning. Formed from volcanic eruption that led to the caldera, Ngorongoro crater
is home to the endangered black rhinoceros. In addition to amazing landscapes, you will be rewarded by a
good number of animals including elephants, hyenas, lions, wildebeests and many others.
At around midday, you will exit the crater and drive to Arusha where you will be dropped-off at either
your lodge or airport.
