Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Welcome to Kenya

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Earth Explorers safari representative and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi.

Depending on your arrival time, spend the remainder of the day relaxing and settling into your accommodation. Your guide will brief you on the exciting safari adventure ahead.

Day 2: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, depart Nairobi and journey north through Kenya’s beautiful central highlands towards Samburu National Reserve.

Enjoy changing landscapes along the way as you travel into the dramatic semi-arid wilderness of northern Kenya. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

Explore the reserve’s rugged terrain and riverine habitats, looking for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras and other wildlife.

Day 3: Full-Day Samburu National Reserve Safari

Spend the day discovering the remarkable wilderness of Samburu National Reserve, a unique ecosystem known for wildlife species rarely encountered in other parts of Kenya.

With your private safari guide, explore the areas around the Ewaso Nyiro River and search for the famous Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich.

Day 5: Full-Day Ol Pejeta Conservancy Safari

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives across its diverse habitats, searching for the Big Five and learning about the conservancy’s remarkable conservation work.

Visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where rescued chimpanzees are cared for in a protected environment. Learn about their rehabilitation and the ongoing efforts to provide them with a safe home.

Depending on the available activities and your interests, your guide can also introduce you to other conservation experiences within the conservancy.

Day 6: Ol Pejeta – Lake Naivasha – Boat Safari

In the afternoon, head out for a relaxing boat safari on Lake Naivasha. Cruise across the freshwater lake, watching for hippos resting in the shallows and a variety of birdlife, including African fish eagles, cormorants and pelicans.

Rhino encounters: Ol Pejeta is an important black and white rhino conservation area. Sightings are not guaranteed.
Chimpanzee sanctuary: Access and sanctuary activities are subject to operating arrangements, applicable fees and availability.
Walking safari: Crescent Island experiences are conducted on foot with a local guide and are subject to safety conditions and park regulations.
Hell’s Gate: Walking and cycling activities depend on current park conditions, safety guidance and availability. Bicycle hire, if required, should be confirmed separately.
