After breakfast, depart Nairobi and travel north toward Samburu National Reserve.

The journey takes you through changing landscapes as you leave the capital behind and enter the rugged and spectacular scenery of northern Kenya.

This first safari offers the opportunity to encounter elephants, lions, leopards and some of the wildlife species that make Samburu particularly special.

  • Somali ostrich

You will also have opportunities to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo and other wildlife.

The Ewaso Nyiro River provides an important source of water for wildlife and creates excellent viewing opportunities, particularly around the riverbanks.

Chimpanzee Sanctuary — visit the sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees, an important part of Kenya’s wildlife conservation story.

During your wildlife viewing, keep watch for black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, leopards and numerous bird species.
