Leave the Lake Victoria region and begin your journey into western Uganda.

Travel through Uganda’s changing countryside toward the Semuliki region, experiencing the landscapes of western Uganda before continuing to Fort Portal.

Arrive at your hotel, settle in, and prepare for your first major primate encounter.

The first great primate encounter.

Enter the forest with experienced trackers in search of wild chimpanzees.

Listen for their calls echoing through the trees. Follow signs through the forest and experience the excitement of tracking one of our closest living primate relatives.

Chimpanzees are active, vocal, and unpredictable making every tracking experience different.

After your chimpanzee adventure, return to your hotel.

The rest of the day is deliberately left open for you to rest, recover, and enjoy your accommodation.

Overnight: Fort Portal

Leave Fort Portal and begin the scenic journey south toward the Virunga region.

Travel through western Uganda, passing the landscapes surrounding Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Stop at Katwe Salt Lake for a glimpse into the history, landscapes, and local life of the region before continuing through southwestern Uganda toward Kisoro.

As the Virunga Volcanoes appear on the horizon, the next stage of your primate adventure begins.

The defining experience of the journey.

Enter the mountain rainforest with professional trackers and rangers in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family.

The trek may take you through thick vegetation, mountain slopes, and ancient forest.

Then comes the moment.

The gorillas.

Once your assigned gorilla family is located, spend an unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat.

Watch their interactions. Listen to the forest. Experience the quiet power of being in the presence of one of the world’s most extraordinary animals.

After your trek, return to your hotel or relax near beautiful Lake Mutanda.

One final primate adventure.

Enter the bamboo forest in search of the energetic golden monkeys of the Virunga Mountains.

Fast-moving, colorful, and playful, golden monkeys offer a completely different tracking experience from chimpanzees and mountain gorillas.

Follow them through the bamboo as they leap, feed, and move through their forest habitat.

After the experience, travel toward the Cyanika border and cross into Rwanda.

Continue through Rwanda’s Land of a Thousand Hills toward Kigali.

Later, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your international departure.
